Big Blue Indoor Percussion Team Celebrates Their Win

There was an impromptu party arranged for the Warren Central Indoor Percussion Team following their win at the Mississippi Indoor Association Championships in Ridgeland earlier today.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department escorted the team back to the Warren Central High School Band Hall where a great many parents and supporters were gathered, including Vicksburg Warren School District Superintendent, Dr. Elizabeth Swinford.

Mr. Chad Austin, the team’s director, took the opportunity shortly after the team arrived on the campus to make a few remarks about how proud he was of each and every member of his team and how much the victory meant to him and his team.

Dr. Swinford made one simple statement. “I’ve been wanting a championship ever since I came to town and now we have one! Thank you and congratulations!”

We were invited to come and be part of the celebration and, to tell you the truth, are very thankful to have been there. These young men and women have worked very hard for quite a long time, some as long as six years, to earn this honor. We are proud of them and hope to see the team repeat this feat many times in the years to come.

We’ll be posting photos from the competition a little later, thanks to Robert Walker. He’ll also have lots of shots from the party, but for now, we’ll show you some of the photos we were able to grab!

Go Big Blue!
