In the beginning, St. Francis Principal Mary Arledge, agreed to kiss a pig if the students reached their Super Goal of $35,000 in Magazine Sales. Our school budget goal was $30,000. On the final day we were $1,200 or roughly 60 Magazines away from the Super Goal. We extended the sale one more day, and St. Aloysius High School Principal, Michele Connelly agreed to kiss the pig also, if the goal was met!
Within 24 hours, the students raised another $2,200 with the help of Alumni & parents, reaching final sales of $36,000 and putting us $1,000 over our Super Goal!!!
In these photos are St. Francis Xavier Elementary Prinicpal Mary Arledge & St. Aloysius High School Principal Michele Connelly leaning in for the kiss! (Retired) Lt. Col. Adrienne Eckstein was our Magazine Chair this year. Her husband, Col. Jeff Eckstein, is holding the pig in the photos. We have the best volunteers at our school! The Magazine Sale was run through QSP with Representative Steve Clonts, who was wonderful to work with.
The students were so excited during the pig kissing!!
The Principal’s…well, they were great sports about it!
Vicksburg Daily News was on had to take photos of the event.
Congrats are in order for the two students who made it to the final race. Dillon Chambers represented Ms. Karen Calnan’s grade class with his blue mechanical pig while Piper Connell represented Ms. Shelley Nosser’s 4th grad class with her motley colored pig. The two competed against each other after winning preliminary races. On the line was an ice cream party for the class and a chance for the teacher and the racing student to step inside the money booth to grab some cash.
Piper’s pig won the race handily and Ms. Nosser’s class will be enjoying ice cream soon!!!
Check out the photos below for a glimpse into the day’s events. The actual video footage will be coming to YouTube soon!
