WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, tonight issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress:
“As a nation, we continue to face many challenges as we fight to pull ourselves out of a deep economic recession. There are predictions that this year will be dominated by election year stalemates, but I am hopeful President Obama and the Congress can find a way to work together to control spending, foster job creation and drive economic growth. The Congress forced some progress on the debt last year, but more is needed if we are to alleviate the economic and national security threats posed by our unsustainable indebtedness.”
